What makes 60s fashion so great? Yes, of course the colored tights, patterned shift dresses, and bright color palettes - but the 60s was a decade to break many fashion traditions. Mini skirts were introduced along with dresses displaying a much slimmer and straight look. For the first time, the apparel industry was aimed towards the youth market. The most prevailing fashion icons were teenagers, one of the most influential being Twiggy.

Hired at 16- Twiggy began working with British fashion designer Mary Quant. Mini skirts, shift and collared dresses quickly became popular through many magazine covers and advertising campaigns. This was considered incredibly daring at the time - with the dresses about 7 inches above the knee.

Jean Shrimpton's career started when she met David Bailey, a popular fashion photographer in 1960 while he was shooting for British Vogue. They worked together to create endless iconic images, where Jean debuted her bold style.

This fashion icon is also known for popularizing the mini skirt. In 1965, Jean appeared at Derby Day in Australia, wearing a white shift dress that ended four inches above her knees, causing a big commotion.

Personally, I find the 60s to be the most iconic era and the best place to find inspiration for fashion. It can be easily incorporated into anyone's wardrobe! Below are three 60s mod inspired looks.
